About Chuck

Chuck enjoys electronics, coffee, cycling, skiing and scotch, not necessarily in that order. By day Chuck works trying remove bloat-ware from satellite set top boxes. By night he is an embedded software and hardware developer.

It never ends. Today’s issue was a cmos battery backup from P-150 in my arcade cabinet that was no longer working. The lithum cell turned out to be inside a BQ3287 rtc chip that does double duty for the nv ram.

After taking a dremel to the package and exposing the battery wires, I attached a cr2032 to it and held it in place with hot glue. Now pac man works again.
